R.I.P. Pete Postlethwaite

Entertainment Weekly reported this morning that brilliant actor Pete Postlethwaite, 64, died Sunday following a lengthy battle with cancer. His filmography is a mile long and he earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination in 1994 for In the Name of the Father. He was most recently seen being imposing and terrifying in Ben Affleck's thoroughly entertaining The Town.

He was also in The Lost World, Steven Spielberg's sequel to Jurassic Park. The EW.com article notes that the legendary director once called Postlethwaite "the best actor in the world." I think my favorite part of the article was the actor's response: "I’m sure what Spielberg actually said was, 'the thing about Pete is that he thinks he’s the best actor in the world.'"

Sounds like he was a classy guy.
