Lots of NASCAR fans equals lots of concession stand cash, and all that money has to be stored somewhere during the race. The good: I’ve been jokingly referring to this clever, subversive heist film as Redneck Ocean’s Eleven , but Steven Soderbergh – one of my favorite filmmakers – beat me to the punch. REVIEW: Teen Titans Go! To the Movies

Courtesy of Warner Bros. One of my favorite experiences in this marketing-saturated age is when a great movie comes out of nowhere and reminds me why I love sitting in a crowded theater. That’s exactly what happened with Teen Titans Go! To the Movies , a feature-length adaptation of the popular Cartoon Network series. I knew almost nothing about the show prior to walking into last weekend’s press screening. I mainly went because my seven-year-old daughter had seen a few episodes and we both thought the trailer was funny. Imagine my surprise when Teen Titans Go! ended up being one of the best movies of the summer. My daughter and I both walked out with enormous smiles on our faces, our stomachs aching after nearly 90 minutes of nonstop laughter. The film’s plot is refreshingly simple. It happened several years too late, but Marvel superhero Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) finally gets her own solo movie. The result is underwhelming since it comes after – spoiler – the character died in Avengers: Endgame , but she gets a mostly decent sendoff. I just wish it hadn’t come in the form of a prequel with almost no stakes. Taking place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War , Natasha Romanoff is on the run and ends up entangled in a conflict from her pre-Avenger days, when she was far less heroic. To defeat a villain (Ray Winstone) from her past, she’ll need help from fellow spies (Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz) who once posed as her family.
